OKX Crypto Card for Africa explained

OKX launched the OKX Card on 22 July 2026 across selected African countries to spend stablecoins via the Mastercard and Visa network. The OKX Card supports USDT, USDC and USDG as payment currencies, which are automatically converted to local currencies at the moment of purchase. OKX charges no transaction fees or foreign exchange fees (as of July 2026); only a 0.1% market spread applies to conversion. The OKX Card is a crypto payment card that lets eligible African users spend their stablecoin balances anywhere Mastercard or Visa is accepted.

A crypto card is a payment card linked to a crypto or stablecoin balance rather than a traditional bank account. At the moment of payment, the card automatically converts the crypto or stablecoin balance to the local fiat currency, so the merchant receives a standard fiat payment via the card network. The OKX Card is a crypto card designed specifically for the African region that uses stablecoins (USDT, USDC and USDG) as the payment source, operating on the Mastercard and Visa network.

The OKX Card is linked to OKX Pay in the app, the digital payment ecosystem of OKX. Payments work as follows:

1. Your OKX Pay account holds USDT, USDC or USDG.

2. At checkout, OKX converts the stablecoin balance to your local currency at the moment of payment.

3. The merchant receives a standard payment via the Mastercard or Visa network.

4. OKX applies a 0.1% market spread on conversion; no additional transaction fees or FX fees from OKX.

The OKX Card automatically converts USDC or USDG to local currency at the moment of purchase, via the Mastercard network, with no transaction or FX fees from OKX, only a 0.1% market spread applies.

Cashback applies only to purchases where USDG is the active payment currency. USDT, USDC payments do not earn cashback.

The OKX Card works at any point of sale worldwide that accepts Mastercard or Visa, both in-store and online.

The OKX Card pays 2% to 10% cashback in USDG on USDG-funded purchases, depending on the user's OKX VIP level; the monthly cap ranges from up to $800 VIP 3 users and above (rates from July 22, 2026).

The OKX Card differs from a traditional payment card in that the payment source is not a bank balance but USDT, USDC or USDG held in OKX Pay; conversion to local currency happens automatically at the moment of purchase via the Mastercard or Visa network, with no manual pre-conversion or top-up required.

Create an account and complete advanced identity verification (KYC). You need a valid ID document and proof of address.

Activate OKX Pay in the OKX app. Deposit USDT, USDC or USDG into your OKX Pay account via the Convert feature or via an external wallet address.

After receiving the card, activate it in the OKX app. The OKX Card is immediately usable at any Mastercard or Visa terminal in selected countries.
