Large Withdrawal Protection FAQ

What is Large Large Withdrawal Protection?

Large Withdrawal Protection is a security feature that lets you set a personal 24-hour cumulative withdrawal limit. Once your total outflows across all covered channels exceed the threshold you've set, any further withdrawals will require facial verification (Eagle Eye) to proceed. This gives you an extra layer of active protection beyond OKX's existing risk control system.

Who can use this feature?

Large Withdrawal Protection is available to KYC-verified main account users only. Sub-accounts and users who haven't completed KYC verification won't see this feature in their security settings.

Supported on: Web and App (version 6.176.0 or above)

Which channels are covered?

The 24-hour cumulative limit applies across the following channels:

  • On-chain withdrawals

  • P2P selling

  • Pay top-up

  • API withdrawals (including sub-account withdrawals)

How do I set up Large Withdrawal Protection?

Go to Security Center > Large Withdrawal Protection to enable the feature and set your threshold.

  • Minimum threshold: 10,000 USD

  • Maximum threshold: 10,000,000 USD

  • Thresholds are denominated in USD equivalent only

What verifications are required?

Enabling Large Withdrawal Protection does not require any verification.

Increasing your threshold requires facial verification before the change takes effect.

Decreasing your threshold does not require any verification.

Disabling Large Withdrawal Protection requires facial verification.

When your 24-hour cumulative withdrawals exceed your threshold, the next withdrawal will trigger facial verification before it can proceed.

What happens when I exceed my threshold?

Once your 24-hour cumulative outflows reach your set threshold, the next withdrawal will trigger a facial verification request. After passing verification, the withdrawal proceeds as normal.

Note: If OKX's risk control system has already triggered facial verification independently, Large Withdrawal Protection won't trigger a second verification — you'll only need to verify once.

Are there any limitations?

API withdrawals: If your API withdrawals exceed the threshold, the transaction will be blocked automatically. You cannot bypass this via facial verification. To proceed, use the Web or App to withdraw, or increase your threshold first.

Sub-accounts: Withdrawals made by sub-accounts count toward the main account's 24-hour cumulative total. Sub-account withdrawals will also be blocked if the threshold is exceeded.

Older app versions: If you've enabled Large Withdrawal Protection on Web but are using an app version older than 6.176.0, you can still withdraw normally, but the facial verification step won't be triggered. Update to the latest version for full protection.

Will I be notified of changes to my settings?

Yes. You'll receive a push notification and email whenever Large Withdrawal Protection is enabled, disabled, or your threshold is modified. If you receive a notification for an action you didn't take, reset your password or freeze your account immediately.

FAQ

Q: I can't find the Large Withdrawal Protection feature. Where is it?

This feature is only available to KYC-verified main account users. If you haven't completed identity verification, or if you're using a sub-account, the feature won't appear in your settings.

Q: Do I need facial verification every time I change my threshold?

No. Facial verification is only required when increasing your threshold. Decreasing your threshold does not require verification.

Q: Why was I asked to verify my face even though I haven't exceeded my threshold?

OKX's risk control system (Eagle Eye) operates independently from Large Withdrawal Protection. If the risk control system detects unusual activity, it may trigger facial verification on its own — regardless of your Large Withdrawal Protection threshold. This is normal behavior and not a sign that your settings are misconfigured.

Q: My API withdrawal was blocked. What can I do?

API withdrawals that exceed your threshold are blocked automatically and cannot be resumed via facial verification. You can either withdraw through the Web or App instead, or log in and increase your threshold first, then retry the API withdrawal.

Q: Do sub-account withdrawals count toward my threshold?

Yes. All sub-account outflows are included in the main account's 24-hour cumulative total. If the combined total exceeds your threshold, sub-account withdrawals will be blocked.
